How Gannett’s Culture Has Evolved Since COVID-19

A year into the COVID-19 pandemic, Gannett continues to support our employees as our work culture continues to evolve.

As soon as the pandemic began in March 2020, Gannett was on the forefront of ensuring employees were as safe as possible. Immediately, Gannett’s People Team instituted a Flexible Work Arrangements Policy, allowing all employees who could work remotely to do so. For front-line workers, Gannett mobilized rapidly to supply PPE and sanitization materials.

To assist company leaders and their employees in navigating these new and unexpected work arrangements, Gannett developed a remote workers toolkit that included everything from managing remotely, to virtual team building ideas, to helping employees cope with mental wellbeing.

Gannett’s Employee Resource Groups sprang into action, to support fellow employees. Gannett’s ERGs collaborated to present “Community in Quarantine,” a live, virtual summit. The four-part series intended to unite employees who were navigating the impacts of the pandemic — not only in the workplace, but in their personal lives as well.

Gannett’s Women Forward and Family Forward ERG’s co-hosted a panel discussion addressing the impact the pandemic has had on women in the workforce. This discussion created an opportunity to elevate ways Gannett can continue to support our women colleagues during these times.

Gannett’s Mentally Forward ERG launched a virtual, three-part series focused on stress management and wellbeing.

Gannett continues to evolve our work culture to support our employees through the pandemic.
